Market Roundup

The Hang Seng Index opened lower this morning and traded sideways around the 25,800 level. It fell 61 points or 0.24% to 25,884 at midday; the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index fell 20 points or 0.22% to 9,144; while the Hang Seng Tech Index bucked the trend, rising slightly by 5 points or 0.1% to 5,603. Total turnover for the morning session was approximately HK$76 billion. In terms of individual stocks, auto stocks showed mixed performance, with GAC Group (2238) bucking the trend and rising 12.1% in the morning session. The pharmaceutical sector generally weakened, with WuXi AppTec (2359) and Innovent Biologics (1801) falling 3.9% and 2.8% respectively.
