Hong Kong stocks rebounded in the morning session on rumors of easing tensions in the Middle East. The Hang Seng Index opened 331 points higher and extended its gains, reaching a high of 25,872 points at one point. It closed the morning session up 396 points, or 1.56%, at 25,804 points; the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index rose 91 points, or 1.07%, to 8,673 points; and the Hang Seng Tech Index gained 1.4% to 5,010 points. Total turnover for the morning session reached HK$172 billion. Among individual stocks, CATL (3750) was favored by the market after announcing its results, surging 8.75% in the morning session, making it the best-performing blue chip. Tencent (0700) was favored by brokers for launching its AI smart assistant, with its share price rising 5.72%. Affected by the sharp drop in international oil prices, PetroChina (0857) fell 2.54% in the morning session, becoming the biggest loser among blue chips.
