The Hang Seng Index (HSI) opened 65 points lower, then rebounded 91 points in early trading to reach a high of 23,374 points. It later fell 114 points to a low of 23,167 points, but ultimately closed at 23,381 points, up 99 points or 0.4%. The Hang Seng Tech Index closed at 5,182 points, up 24 points or 0.5%. The China Enterprises Index (HSCEI) rose 32 points or 0.4%, closing at 8,469 points. Total market turnover was HKD 203.3 billion. Meituan (3690) reported better-than-expected Q1 results, but management stated they would spare no effort to win the competition. The stock initially dropped 5.5%, but reversed to close up 2.1%.
