Hong Kong stocks saw a significant drop in the morning session, impacted by the bad debt crisis at US banks. The Hang Seng Index opened 36 points lower and then extended its losses, falling 415 points, or 1.61%, to 25,472 points in the first half of the day. The H-share Index fell 155 points, or 1.67%, to 9,104 points, while the Hang Seng Tech Index dropped 168 points, or 2.81%, to 5,835 points. Market turnover for the first half of the day was HK$153.1 billion. BYD Electronics (285) suffered the largest drop, falling 6.57% to 38.38 yuan. Technology stocks generally fell, with Horizon Robotics-W (9660) down 6.62% and only NIO (9866) rising 2.37%.
