Hong Kong stocks were volatile and slightly weak on index futures settlement day. The Hang Seng Index opened 125 points higher and remained range-bound. It once rose 146 points to a high of 24,471, but by midday had dropped 23 points to a low of 24,301. It ended the morning session down 15 points, or 0.1%, at 24,309. The China Enterprises Index fell 26 points, or 0.3%, to 8,767. The Hang Seng Tech Index rose 7 points, or 0.1%, to 5,352. Total market turnover for the morning session was HKD 162.429 billion. Xiaomi (1810) launched its new car model YU7 for public sale today. Within the first hour, it received nearly 290,000 orders. The stock rose 4.4% in the morning session to HKD 59.4.
