Hong Kong stocks opened higher after the holiday. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce stated that the US has repeatedly expressed a desire to negotiate, and China is currently evaluating this. On the first trading day of May, the Hang Seng Index opened 73 points higher at 22,192 points. By noon, the increase expanded to 374 points or 1.7%, reaching 22,494 points. The China Enterprises Index rose 148 points or 1.8%, to 8,224 points. The Hang Seng Tech Index increased by 167 points or 3.3%, to 5,254 points. The total market turnover for the half-day was 78.3 billion HKD. WuXi AppTec led the market, with WuXi AppTec (2359) rising by 6.1% and WuXi Biologics (2269) rising by 5.5%.
