Hong Kong stocks closed slightly lower on Thursday driven by the listing of Chery Automobile and a stabilization of technology stocks. The Hang Seng Index closed at 26,484 points, down 33 points, or 0.13%. The China Enterprises Index rose slightly by 1 point, or 0.01%, to 9,444 points. The Hang Seng Tech Index closed at 6,379 points, up 56 points, or 0.89%. Total trading volume reached 314.9 billion yuan. Chery Auto (9973) reaching a high of HK$34.98, over 13% above its IPO price of HK$30.75. However, the gains narrowed to 3.8% in the afternoon. Among technology stocks, Baidu (9888) rose 2.3%, supporting the performance of the tech index. Non-ferrous metal stocks continued to perform strongly, with Zijin Mining (2899) surging 5% to a new high. CMOC and MMG also hit new highs, driven by rising global copper prices.
