Middle East tensions escalate further as Israel launches airstrikes on Iran. The Hang Seng Index closed at 23,866 points at midday, down 168 points or 0.7%. The Hang Seng Tech Index reported 5,220 points, down 110 points or 2.1%. The China Enterprises Index fell 78 points or 0.9%, closing at 8,651 points. Chow Tai Fook (1929) posted earnings better than market expectations, with its stock price rising 9.3%. Pharmaceutical stocks retreated, SINO Biopharma (1177) dropped 4.9%, CSPC Pharmaceutical (1093) fell 4.2%.
