Hong Kong stocks weakened in the morning session as several companies announced share placements. The Hang Seng Index opened 129 points lower and initially dropped 233 points to a low of 24,240 before narrowing its losses. It rebounded to a high of 24,411, down 63 points, and ended the half-day session down 117 points or 0.5%, at 24,357. The China Enterprises Index fell 45 points or 0.5% to 8,814, while the Hang Seng Tech Index was nearly flat, down less than 1 point at 5,358. The total market turnover for the morning session was HKD 142.1 billion. Guotai Junan International (1788) continued to rise by 12.5% after receiving approval from the Securities and Futures Commission to offer virtual asset trading services. ZhongAn Online (6060) dropped 4.7% after announcing a share placement to raise HKD 3.9 billion.
