Hong Kong stocks rose in the morning session following gains in global. The HSI opened 154 points higher and then extended its gains, rising 199 points or 0.8% to 26,789 at mid-day; the HSCEI rose 81 points or 0.9% to 9,088; and the HSTECH rose 17 points or 0.34% to 5,288. Total turnover was HK$122.3bn. Consumer stocks generally rose, with Maoyan Entertainment (1896) rising 3.3% after forecasting a profit of at least RMB 540mn last year, a three-fold increase. Sports wear stocks Anta (2020) and Topsports (6110) rose 4.4% and 7.9% respectively. Link REIT (0823) rose 1.5% after the budget proposed to strive for the inclusion of REITs in the Stock Connect program as soon as possible.
