Hong Kong stocks opened lower, with the Hang Seng Index falling 135 points and extending its losses to close at 26,184 points, down 301 points or 1.1%. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index fell 104 points or 1.1% to 9,251 points, and the Hang Seng Tech Index fell 118 points or 2% to 5,825 points. Total turnover for the morning session was HK$115.2 billion. Technology stocks almost universally declined, with ATMXJ falling more than 2% to more than 3%. Among them, Xiaomi (1810) fell 3.13% to a more than six-month low, while Kuaishou (1024) and Pop Mart (9992) fell about 6% and 5.6% respectively, making them the biggest losers among blue chips. Energy stocks bucked the trend, with Xinyi Solar (968) rising more than 6%, making it the best-performing blue chip.
