The Hang Seng Index opened higher and extended its gains, closing near its high at 24,829 points, up 447 points or 1.8%; the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index rose 118 points or 1.4% to 8,426 points; and the Hang Seng Tech Index rose 67 points or 1.4% to 4,779 points. Total turnover for the morning session was HK$149.5 billion. Blue-chip stocks generally rose, with AIA Group (1299) attracting significant capital inflows, surging 5.8% to HK$83.95, driving the market's overall performance. A rebound in gold prices led to a general rise in gold stocks, with Laopu Gold (6181) rebounding 7.7%. Conversely, market concerns about oversupply caused CNOOC (0883) to fall 1.5% against the trend.
