Hong Kong stock market fluctuated narrowly today. The HSI opened 38 points lower, then fell 96 points, before closing up 8 points at 24,910. The H-share Index fell 18 points, or 0.2%, to 8,932, while the HSTECH rose 11 points, or 0.2%, to 5,532. Total market turnover reached HK$215.2bn. Tencent (0700) saw its share price rise 1.7% on pre-orders for its new game, Valorant, sparking market excitement. Alibaba (9988) saw its new text-based image model, Qwen-Image, top the global AI open source community, sending its share price up 2.1%. Apple is reportedly set to release the iPhone 17 next month, prompting mobile phone component stocks BYD Electronics (0285) and AAC Technologies (2018) to rise 6.7% and 3.9%, respectively.
