Hong Kong stock market rose today, driven by technology stocks. The HSI opened 115 points higher and then extended gains, rising 373 points, or 1.4%, to 26,812 at the mid-day. The HSCEI rose 167 points, or 1.8%, to 9,553, and the HSTECH rose 212 points, or 3.5%, to 6,290. Market turnover totaled HK$192.36bn at the mid-day. The Cyberspace Administration of China held a "Cybersecurity Entrepreneurs Forum," emphasizing that leading companies need to accelerate the development of independent, controllable security chips to break the monopoly. Baidu (9888) surged 15.9%. Mobile phone component stocks Lens Technology (6613) and Sunny Optical (2382) rose 7.6% and 3.1% respectively.
