The HSCEI fell 2 points to 8,948, while the HSTECH rose 1 point to 5,522. Market turnover totaled HK$120.64bn. Tencent's new game, Valorant, saw its share price rise 1.8%, fueled by market optimism. Alibaba's new text-based image model, Qwen-Image, topped the global AI open source community, sending its share price up 2.1%. Apple is reportedly set to release the iPhone 17 next month, prompting mobile phone component stocks BYD Electronics (0285) and AAC Technologies (2018) to rise 6.3% and 4.8%, respectively.
