The US airstrike on Iran's nuclear facilities caused Hong Kong stock market to fall and then rebound today. The HSI opened 194 points lower and then rebounded significantly, closing at a high of 23,689, up 158 points or 0.7%. The HSCEI rose 70 points or 0.8% to 8,597; the HSTECH rose 53 points or 1% to 5,187. The total market turnover was HK$198.7bn. Shipping stocks Pacific Basin Shipping (2343) rose 19.8% today, while other shipping stocks China Overseas Land & Investment (0316), COSCO Shipping (1308) and COSCO SHIPPING Energy (1138) rose 3.3% to 4.8%. The US reportedly plans to tighten semiconductor exports to China, and SMIC (0981) and Huahong (1347) rose more than 4%.
