Hong Kong stock market fell following a sharp decline in Asia-Pacific. The HSI opened 298 points lower and then extended its losses, closing down 518 points or 2% at 25,249. The HSCEI fell 124 points or 1.45% to close at 8,483, while the HSTECH fell 47 points or less than 1% to close at 4,829. Total turnover for the day was HK$364.3bn. Financial stocks declined, with HSBC (0005) down 3.7% and AIA (1299) down 4.7%, the biggest losers among blue chips. HKEX (0388) and BOCHK (2388) fell 1.1% and 2.3%, respectively. The three major oil companies, Sinopec (0386), PetroChina (0857) and CNOOC (0883), fell between 1.9% and 3%.
