The Hang Seng Index closed at 27,387 points, down 580 points or 2.1%. The Hang Seng Tech Index closed at 5,718 points, down 122 points or 2.1%. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index fell 235 points or 2.5% to 9,317 points. Total market turnover was HK$301.612 billion. Gold prices were under pressure, with Zijin Mining (2899) and Shandong Gold (1787) falling 9.2% and 14.3% respectively.
