Hong Kong stock market rose, driven by A-share market, but trading volume contracted significantly. The HSI opened 8 points higher and traded upwards throughout the day, gaining 233 points or 0.9% to close at 25,468. The HSCEI rose 85 points or 1% to close at 8,843, and the HSTECH rose 55 points or 1% to close at 5,457. Total market turnover fell to HK$183.14bn. Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable (6869), a leading wire and cable stock, rebounded 21.2%. Reports indicate that Apple (AAPL.US) plans to significantly expand its iPhone production lines, leading to gains of 4.2% and 2.6% for Lens Technology (6613) and Cowell (1415), respectively.
