China Securities Journal published an article suggesting that a further reserve requirement ratio (RRR) cut by the People's Bank of China (PBOC) cannot be ruled out. The Hang Seng Index (HSI) opened 174 points higher and extended its gains to 257 points at one point, reaching a high of 23,911 points. However, the gains narrowed before noon, and the index closed the morning session up 98 points, or 0.4%, at 23,752 points. The China Enterprises Index (CEI) rose 46 points, or 0.5%, to 8,623 points. The Hang Seng Tech Index gained 48 points, or 0.9%, to 5,267 points. The total market turnover for the morning session was HKD 124.14 billion. As for individual stocks, Laopu Gold (6181) reaching a high of HKD 1,015, but reversed course and dropped 8.6%, closing the morning at HKD 909.
