Hong Kong stock market performed well today, with the HSI opening 126 points higher and extending its gains to close at 26,485, up 550 points or 2.1%. The HSCEI rose 192 points or 2.1% to close at 9,355, and the HSTECH gained 158 points or 2.7% to close at 5,944. Total market turnover reached HK$234.7bn. Foreign media reports that mainland China has banned data centers receiving state subsidies from using foreign AI chips boosted chip stocks SMIC (0981) and Hua Hong (1347), which rose 7.3% and 9.1% respectively. XPeng (9868), aiming for mass production of high-end humanoid robots by the end of next year, saw its share price rise 1.9%.
