The US and Europe reached a tariff framework agreement, driving the Asia-Pacific market generally upward, and Hong Kong stocks also followed the Asian markets. The HSI opened 70 points higher and then expanded its gains to 279 points. It rose 102 points or 0.4% in half a day to 25,490; the HSCEI rose 7 points or less than 0.1% to 9,157; the HSTECH fell 33 points or 0.6% to 5,644. The total market turnover at mid-day was HK$149.73bn. Hengrui Medicine (1276) announced that it had signed an innovative drug licensing agreement with GSK. If all projects are successfully developed and achieve commercial milestones, the potential total amount can reach approximately US$12bn. Hengrui's share price rose 15.4% at mid-day.
