The Hang Seng Index (HSI) opened 188 points lower at 23,156. In early trading, the decline widened to 285 points, hitting a low of 23,059. However, by the end of the day, the loss narrowed to just 12 points, or 0.1%, closing at 23,333. The China Enterprises Index (HSCEI) dropped 8 points, or 0.1%, to 8,460. The Hang Seng Tech Index fell 26 points, or 0.5%, to 5,255. Total market turnover for the day was HKD 184.7 billion. Following the quarterly review of the Hang Seng Index, Midea Group (300) and ZTO Express (2057) were added to the index constituents. Their stock prices rose by 2.9% and 4%, respectively.
