Hong Kong stocks today traded under pressure throughout the day as the "trading continues during typhoon" mechanism was activated due to Typhoon. The Hang Seng Index opened 91 points higher but then turned lower, closing down 185 points or 0.7% at 26,159. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index fell 80 points or 0.86% to 9,290, and the Hang Seng Tech Index declined 90 points or 1.44% to 6,167. Total trading volume for the day was HKD 294.5 billion. Technology stocks generally declined, with Baidu Group-SW (9888) plunging 5.4%, and CSPC PHARMA (1093) and SINO BIOPHARM (1177) falling 4.7% and 4.4% respectively. In contrast, MAXNERVA TECH (1037) surged 103.2% upon resuming trading after announcing a strategic cooperation agreement with UBTECH (9880) regarding humanoid robots.
