Trump's tariff threats are a market focus.
U.S. stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the S&P 500 down 0.49% to 6,299 points. Market attention was focused on Trump's escalating tariff campaign: he threatened to significantly increase import tariffs on India within 24 hours, and if New Delhi did not purchase more Russian oil, the tariffs would rise to over 25%. He also announced plans to release tariffs on semiconductors and chips next week, covering the supply chains of NVIDIA and TSMC. Pharmaceutical tariffs will initially be small, but could reach as high as 250% within 18 months. Furthermore, the EU will face sanctions if it fails to fulfill its investment commitments. This series of measures has raised concerns among foreign investors and industry about strained global supply chains, putting pressure on technology and pharmaceutical stocks, and market volatility is expected to continue to rise.
